November 6-9, 2008 - Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Fall Leaves in Hot Springs Weekend Getaway - Crescent Hotel

Arrive Thursday, November 6, with a relaxing cocktail at the Baker’s Lounge in the hotel followed by dinner at the hotel. After a long day on the road we will eat at the hotel.

Tonight is also the first night of the annual Original Ozark Folk Festival. The mammoth, city-wide event starts Thursday night with the Queens Contest, then continues through Sunday with performances in the City Auditorium and various venues throughout town.

On Friday, November 7, explore the gorgeous shops and art galleries of Eureka Springs’ cobble-stone paved streets. Some people come to Eureka Springs just to shop... And, a shopper's paradise it is! It doesn't matter if you are looking for that special gift or a one-of-a-kind piece of fine art, you can bet you'll find it here. No malls, no "chain" stores, no discount houses, just fabulous specialty shops & art galleries that will tempt you to return again and again.

Whether in the historic downtown district, on an "off the beaten path" side street or the uptown highway area you will find something that you cannot possibly live without. Your choice of boutiques, bath supplies and baubles is matched only by the unique selection of chocolates, candles and Christmas gifts you will find on your Eureka Springs "one-of-a-kind" shopping excursion!

As one of the top arts and culture destinations in the nation, Eureka Springs celebrates its artisan community. From oil on canvas paintings to hand-blown glass to exquisite jewelry to magnificent sculpture, our artists offer the very best examples of "fine" art.

Don’t forget to book a relaxing hour at one of the town’s many SPAS -- Relax, refresh, renew — it's still quite fashionable in Eureka Springs after 125 years. Mineral baths, steam treatments and massages are still in vogue in this Victorian Mountain Village. Today, we offer new technology, with talented and skilled professionals in health and wellness. Services range from aromatherapy, facials, pedicures and such to primordial sound medication and reflexology. The original atmosphere of early Eureka Springs as a place of restoration and relaxation lingers on in the 21st century. One of the better-known spa’s is right in your hotel!

For those "just along for the ride" shoppers, take a break in Basin Spring or Sweet Spring parks, or wait for your party in one of our colorful local pubs, cafes or coffee shops and enjoy some great people watching! Most shops will ship for you and our shopkeepers are friendly and helpful. (Ask them their favorite place to eat or how they got to Eureka Springs! There are some great stories out there!) Happy shopping!

Dinner will be at Rogue’s Manor Steakhouse

On Saturday, November 8, those of us who want to explore Eureka Springs’ Natural Attractions ...

  • There are rivers to paddle in kayaks and canoes, caves to explore (wear good-gripping shoes!)
  • Hiking, biking and horse-riding trails.
  • Lakes for swimming in, skiing, fishing and sails.
  • Gardens and springs in abundant flower, for the really brave, climb up a bluff or an observation tower!
  • The Cosmic Caverns with its underground lakes.

Eureka Springs Food and Wine Weekend begins this evening.

Dinner will be at the Balcony Restaurant overlooking the main shopping street.

On Sunday, November 9, we will say farewell to each other with a wonderful brunch at the Crescent Hotel’s Crystal Dining Room.
